Pentax FA F1.4 50mm Lens Bokeh Test

I recently received my lens from Amazon! I actually bought a used one from the Amazon warehouse, but they messed up my order so they ended up giving me a new one for the price of the used one! $280 Total for a 50mm f1.4!

It's a little soft at 1.4, but the bokeh is nice and creamy. Focusing seems to be off slightly, but this could be due to the shallow depth of field.

Disneyland: The happiest place on earth

I took a trip to Disneyland with some friends for my birthday weekend. I hadn't been to Disneyland since I last visited the place with my ex-girlfriend. It was as I remembered it. The heat though that weekend was pretty gruesome. I forgot about the Southern California heatwaves. I'm sure that Disneyland made a lot of money selling $3 bottled beverages. I know I must have spent at least $30 on drinks alone over the course of the weekend. But I was expecting this and why would you go to Disneyland if you weren't expecting to spend a few bucks.

There were a lot of people as expected, but the lines weren't too bad. This held true especially for the more "thrilling" rides. I have to say I had a disdain for vertigo, but I really didn't go on a rollercoaster for the longest time and it wasn't as bad as I remembered.

I think it might have been a more immersive experience if we all watched a marathon of Disney movies before coming to the theme park.

A spectacular fireworks show concluded the evening. I remember seeing a water/lights show at Disneyland the last time I was here. Anything that can capture the feeling that you felt when you were kid is worth the effort to obtain it.

Enjoying Ye Olde Renaissance Faire

Great Scott! Why are all these people wearing strange clothes and dreaming of a simpler, more steam punkish past? It's because of the 2nd Annual San Jose Renaissance Faire!

http://www.sanjosefaire.com/

No Flux Capacitor? No problem! All you need to do to get back to the 14thish century is to pay $18!

The San Jose Renaissance Faire is a great way to spend a Saturday! Although, the prices for commodities were probably converted from gold because everything was expensive! $9 for a Turkey Leg!

There was a great joust event that was held twice daily, things to buy, three stages where shows were held through out the day, food stalls everywhere, and people dressed up accordingly. I think the most interesting part of the faire was the joust. The show was pretty well put together, though as with many things in this day and age, it had a lot of advertising and self promotion. The faire wasn't as large as the website made it out to be, but I wasn't expecting too much. It's a good way to spend a Saturday.
