I Can't Even Get One Number

Not even one number right~! Oh well, I tried. It seems that three people won the jackpot so they're going to have to share it. I donated my dollars so they could live above the system and not have to worry about money. I think it's to a good cause. Every once in a while someone gets pushed outside of the daily grind.

What Would You Do with $500 Million

Wednesday, March 28, 2012 Posted by Digital Katsu 0 comments
$500 Million Dollars~!
If I won... I would give the people who played a big part in my life money and I would invest the rest... after having fun with a portion of it. I would then take the interest and just give random people a bunch of money to see their reactions. I would love to be a philanthropist and help people in need.

I would also travel the world, try to understand my existence, help others, and just enjoy my life without having to worry about money. I might go back to school and study until I'm satisfied. I will also probably purchase some extravagant things like a yacht or an underground house, but nothing too expensive. I would keep the majority of it invested.

The fact of the matter is even if you won, it doesn't change the main rule of life, you live and you die. The only factor that's improved is the ability to influence others. After all money isn't really worth anything, but since people believe it's worth something they will do what ever you want for it. It really has the power of influencing people to give you things that you want and having the ability to be more important than others (in the sense that if someone else wants something you would have the priority).

This is the largest lottery prize in the history of the United States (as of 3/28/12).

Winged Goddess of Victory's Shoes

I purchased a pair of Nike Air Max 2011 running shoes today from Foot Action. Thanks to my friend Al, I was able to get a discount on the already on sale price. I saved 20% so these shoes were actually pretty affordable (A total of 50% off). I remember back in elementary school shoes were everything. If you had non name brand shoes you were an outcast or you were made fun of until you got new ones. It's funny how cruel kids can be. This might have influenced my purchase, but I really did want something with air in the soles. I guess it's my inner-child's dream finally come true.

They are pretty comfortable, but a little snug. The pair I purchased had specks of turquoise on the rims of the soles, but I took a permanent marker and made them pure black. I think the design looks cleaner this way. I was going to get some without the specks, but there were none in stock. I wanted the baby blue with black, but I guess this model's close enough. This model was also on sale, so I couldn't complain too much.

The Air Max's are supposed to be made out of one solid piece of nike's "hyperfuse" material. There is a seam on each shoe, but just one. I guess it's supposed to make it more durable. I just hope it doesn't pop. I think they look nice, though I would have liked them better if they were baby blue. Oh well, super discounted anyways.

I Got a Jerbs

I was contacted by Gala-net last Friday about a position with their company; I went to an interview on Tuesday, a Second Interview on Friday, and was offered the job today (Monday). A pretty quick process which I appreciate.

Some people are left hanging after the 1st and 2nd interview, which can be nerve wracking. They say after getting a second interview you pretty much have a 50/50 chance of getting the job, but I still was pretty iffy about this position. After the 1st interview the company reposted the job so I was surprised I received a second interview.

You just really never know until you are actually offered the job. What started as a part-time inquiry into the job market became a pretty in-depth search for better and more interesting positions. Basically, over 75 jobs applied to all with cover letters and resumes (since January). I received a few offers, but after looking over the contracts (like for the Oakland Zoo) they were too little hours with not enough benefits. Some jobs even had essay questions which I had to answer thoroughly. Some jobs required testing at facilities; I passed them all (which didn't even guarantee an interview). I know for a lot of the positions I didn't have the work history for them, but I did have the educational requirement.

I was happy about the offer, but the job really doesn't pay much. I know they were offering me a decent pay for the industry standard, which is why I accepted it. I just want to get into this industry because I'm passionate about it. It's something I really like and hopefully in a year or so I'll be able to move up in the ranks. Hopefully it's a venture where I can at least breakeven. I have to drive 42 miles to the office and gas is $4.19/gallon at Quickstop (the cheapest ghetto gas station where I live).

She Blinded Me with Science

I enjoyed my Thursday going to the California Academy of Sciences with Annie and some friends. We had a discounted group price + a student discount which made our tickets $20 each. The regular price tickets are $30.

This was my first time going to the new CAS building. It's a very interesting modern green building. They tried to get as much light in from the outside to eliminate the need for lights. They also have a garden on the roof; I'm guessing for insulation and there are solar panels all over the place.
There's a pretty amazing jungle area with butterfly's everywhere and there's a very nice aquarium. I noticed that most of the informational panels consisted of touch friendly ipads as displays. I thought this was an interesting, but an expensive way to display the information. I guess if you're spending $392 million for the building what's another $20,000 or so for ipads.

We ran out of things to do after a few hours though. I don't think that there were enough things to really occupy us. We skipped some of the sections, but they were mainly just lounge areas.

If you need Data you might want to check this out

Monday, March 19, 2012 Posted by Digital Katsu 0 comments
Free Data. No he's not in Jail.
NetZero is offering free 4g data access if you buy one of their hotspots. You can only get up to 200mbs per month of data access, but free is free (at least for the first year). Their access points range from $50-$100 depending on what type you choose. It's worth checking out if you're interested in checking a couple emails on the go and you don't have data tethering with your phone. I don't see why you wouldn't just check your emails on your phone, but I guess in case you can't do that it would be handy.
